Directory submission

Still a well used method for gaining backlinks, the web has many free directories available for submission. The upside is you can register with hundreds of directories and the list of these websites never seems to end. The downside is that because there are so many of these sites acceptance rates vary and can often take months for manual approval. The value of these links are not that high and often might never get crawled by google.

Article marketing

Article directories are a great way of submitting unique content in exchange for a resource box at the  bottom of the page with an anchor text link back to your site. With several tools out there making the submission process less manual many moderators are keeping a keen eye on ensuring the content is unique, has correct grammar and isn't garbled. If an article doesn;t make sense it has quite often been through a spinning program with no manual check. The recent algorithm update google had meant that ezine articles a well established website was hit hard and subsequently so were the links that pointed to webmasters sites. I still see this a major method of generating back links although seo company uk will need to ensure that it there content is unique and the categories they submit to are relevant.

Forum profile creation and posting

The value of forums is up for debate, however its still a valid link building method used for lower level links to increase value of those links. Commenting can add new links to your site although it needs to be done on a higher volume in order to create any good effect of increasing PR of the links it is pointing to.

Blog commenting

This is often seen as a spammy ethod of link building if done in volume with irrelevant or general comments. As wordpress has by default nofollow on all blog comments many people see this as not a worthwhile exercise. However one local seo company says that the links are still followed by google spiders and should be used as part of a healthy mix of links. This again needs to be done on scale to have any noticable effect on improving PR of your links that the comments are pointing to. Community participation is a good way by leaving a detailed comment of your opinion of a blog on an industry related article it can increase your back links along with directing people to your site to see your opinion on similar topics.

Social boomarking

As google doesn't always crawl and index all of the links out there on the worldwide web its important to use social websites with a higher authority that crawled regularly to find your backlinks. There are tools out there that automated the submission process such as only wire, however you need to fill in the capture form. Other factors you should be aware of when submitting links through social bookmarking services is using unique I.P addresses as multiple submissions from different accounts may alert the websites as you spamming them. Another factor is scheduled submissions meaning instead of submitting hundreds of links all at the same time to drip feed your links to the search engines.

1.All in One SEO

You can control the title tag, meta description, and excerpts that help with relevance. You can change the  settings on new pages and posts.

2.Redirection

If you happen to change on old post or upgrade your version of wordpress it can break your existing permalink structure. When you move your blog or website to a new hosting provider you can often break links and providing a permanent redirect to guide the search engines and ensure your rankings aren't affected too badly. The main purpose of the redirect is to direct your visitors to new pages so they don't leave your site after visiting a dead link with no valuable content on it.

3.Robots.txt

If all your pages created are available to the user (and not behind any login page for example) then they make up the authority of your website. Not all of the pages created over the lifetime of your website are valuable to building up your authority and using the robots meta plugin allows you to block webpages you don't want to contribute to your site. This can also help build up the page rank of your more valuable pages.

4. SEO smart links

One of the main factors of on-page SEO is internal linking. When you link to a key page  on the site multiple times the more important it becomes part of your overall content. Your internal links are an indication of how structured your site is. The smart links plugin helps you by specifying a keyword and turning that keyword in to a link, and in future every time the keyword is entered  in to your site a link will appear.

5. Image optimisation

Its important to remember that due to google indexing all types of content, to ensure your name and tag your other media such as images. SEO friendly images helps you do this by tagging your images easily.

6. Permalinks moved permanently

Similar to redirect plugin this allows you to change your URL's as your site evolves. Normally if you change your URL's, it could result in google not indexing your new web page and a subsequent drop in rankings and traffic. This redirects your permalinks permanently. If you have another content management system that doesn't have this then you may want to speak with an SEO Services Company who can help guide you through the process.

7. Nofollow plugin

Quite often many people wont change the default setting of wordpress comments which is set to nofollow, meaning it wont pass any page rank to the user who is leaving a comment. Now you can select which pages carry the follow attribute meaning that new bloggers can get valuable exposure.

8.SEO slugs

When creating blog posts its common that the title will carry some 'stop words' such as in the title “how do you go about gaining back links”. The most relevant part of this title is “gaining back links” which is what we should include in our URL. This plugin helps remove stop words from your  URL's to help you rank better.
